Henry played soccer last spring and was on a team with all
of his/my friends. He was definitely new to the game. In fact, the award his
coaches gave him was the “Mr. Angry Bird” award. While on the field, Henry didn’t
often pay attention to the ball or the game. He was typically in his own world
on the field. The only way to convince him to go after the ball was to say
things like, “Run like a cheetah.” After he kicked the ball one time (or maybe
it was the only time?), he ran up to the coach and said, “I kicked that ball
like a big angry bird!” He was beyond thrilled with his award.
I asked him if he wanted me to sign him up for soccer again
and he isn’t interested. We’ll give it another shot later.
